Abia Moves to Acquire 60% of EEDC, Signs Digital Deal with MTN

Abia State has submitted a bid to acquire 60% of EEDC assets to boost electricity in Umuahia and nearby LGAs. The state also signed an MoU with MTN for full broadband coverage by 2025, 4G/5G rollout, digital governance, and device financing for civil servants.

Abia is also set to launch an EU-backed solar project to power nine health centres, while ASEPA has begun waste recycling and biogas conversion. Meanwhile, Abia Warriors have qualified for continental football for the first time.
