A Nigerian United Kingdom (UK)-based woman, Christy Oluwabunmi Oyewole has petitioned the Ogun state House of Assembly over an alleged approximately N100Million Naira romance scam involving an Ogun state Monarch, Oba Adekeye Adeyemi Olanrewaju, the Abepa of Joga Orile, Yewa North in Ogun State.
In a petition directed to the Speaker of Ogun State House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daisi Elemide, dated May 8, 2025, the alleged victim, Christy narrated how the Ogun Monarch, Oba Adekeye Adeyemi forged fake divorce papers and fake marriage certificates to defraud her of over N100-Million.
Narrating her ordeal, Christy explained how Oba Adekeye took advantage of her, when she was going through domestic violence in her former marriage.
She alleged that the Monarch masterminded a fake divorce papers to legally leave her marriage with her ex-husband and forged a marriage certificate cementing his union with her, thereafter deceiving her to lend him some money and other valuables worth over N100-Million.
Christy added that when she realized she had been duped by Oba Adekeye Adeyemi, she reported the Monarch to appropriate authorities, alleging that the Monarch has been evading justice with his position as a Monarch.
Christy Oluwabunmi Oyewole’s petition to the Ogun House of Assembly reads in full:
“PETITION AGAINST THE ABEPA OF JOGA ORILE, YEWA NORTH, OGUN STATE, OBA ADEKEYE ADEYEMI OLANREWAJU OVER MARRIAGE SCAM
” It is with pain that I write to this Honourable ministry about my ordeal in the hands of an Ogun Monarch, Oba Adekeye Adeyemi Olanrewaju, the Abepa of Joga Orile, Yewa North, Ogun State.”
“My name is Christy Oluwabunmi Oyewole. I am a Nigerian, based in the United Kingdom.
” I made the greatest mistake of my life when I married Oba Adekeye Adeyemi Olanrewaju— after my marriage crumbled due to incessant domestic violence, Oba Adekeye approached me for marriage. I expressed concerns about my marital status at the time, affirming that I was still married to my ex-husband and he assured me that he would facilitate a divorce process to leave my ex-husband. It was later that I discover that the divorce and marriage papers he provided were outrightly fake and masterminded by the Monarch to scam me.
“After I married Oba Adekeye, he repeatedly exploited me of my hard-earned money, which accumulated to about N65Million, jewelry worth about N50Million and other properties, including phones, with promises to return everything he borrowed from me.
“When I realized that he had duped me, I tried everything humanly possible to retrieve my money and properties from him, but he has continued to use his position as a Monarch to evade justice. I am stranded— Oba Adekeye Adeyemi Olanrewaju has fraudulently taken all my life savings. I am confident that with your intervention, I can get my life back on track. I hope for your positive response.”
