The Editorial Manager of Peak Newspaper Nigeria, Comrade Anuoluwapo Lebi has lamented the continuous refusal of an Ogun Family, Adebayo Ademolu to compensate or refund the initial payments, after the family resold the pieces of land sold to him, his brother and other rightful occupants, to a Chinese-owned Unikem Industries.
For up to a year, for up to two years, the Adebayo Ademolu family has allegedly refused to refund N950,000 to him and his brother despite multiple petitions and pleas.
Recounting his ordeal, Lebi narrated that he bought a plot of land in Siun, Abeokuta, for N250,000 in December 2023 after his father introduced him to a developing area. His brother, who had previously acquired an acre and a plot at the same location, also recommended the property.
He added that on the day he went to inspect the property in 2023, he met Keshinro Adebayo, a representative of the Adebayo Ademolu family, who also signed the receipt of the deed of agreement after he paid.
After the purchase, Lebi returned to school. But early in 2024, he began to hear reports of strange activities on the land. He said his father and elder brother, alongside a retired soldier, visited the property and mounted a ‘Military Zone: Keep Off’ sign to deter trespassers.
“But while they were there, some people confronted them for trespassing and called the Owode Police Division. The police collected statements and warned my family members not to return to the site,” Lebi said.
He said his next line of action was to file a petition to the Ogun State Land Administration and Revenue Management (OLARMS) and to the police at Eleweran in Abeokuta, but despite that, there has been no update from either office.
“I have been calling Keshinro Adebayo, the family representative who signed my receipt, to ask for my money, but he is never direct. He once told us to come to the site. We went there expecting a refund, but it was just another story. They resold our land without telling us,” he said.
Lebi said his brother, who bought an acre of land in 2022 for N750,000 from the same family and in the same area, is facing a similar fate. Although land prices in the area have skyrocketed, now valued at over N700,000 per plot, the family has refused to refund the amounts they originally collected from the buyers, said Lebi.
“I don’t even want the new market price. I just want the money I paid. I need it urgently to seek medical help for my mother. This is purely criminal. We bought the land in good faith. Now they have sold it again and are acting like nothing happened,” he said.
Upon contacting Keshinro Adebayo, the family representative who signed the deed of agreement, but he said he didn’t know what the issue was about. Adebayo had signed the document on behalf of the family on the day Lebi paid.

April 26, 2025The situation with the Adebayo Ademolu family is truly disappointing. Selling the same land to multiple parties is unethical and unacceptable. It is concerning that Unikem Industries got involved in such a transaction. The affected parties deserve justice and proper compensation. Why has there been no legal action taken against this fraudulent act?
