FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has signed 26,272 Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-Os) since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office in 2023, according to figures released by the FCT Administration, Peak Newspaper reports.
The figure is nearly three times the 8,697 C-of-Os produced and signed between 2010 and 2023 under the administrations of former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari.
The FCT Administration also says the C-of-O process has been streamlined, with land allottees who complete the required payments now able to receive their documents within two weeks. An automated notification system has also been introduced to alert applicants when their documents are ready.
Officials said many beneficiaries of the 26,272 certificates had received their land allocations more than a decade ago but were yet to obtain the necessary title documents.
