The United Kingdom has turned down a request by the Federal Government to allow former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, serve the remainder of his jail term in Nigeria.
Ekweremadu is currently serving a sentence in the UK after being convicted of organ trafficking.
The former lawmaker was jailed in 2023 for nine years and eight months after a British court found him guilty of conspiring to arrange the exploitation of a young man’s kidney.
