President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revealed why he appointed Professor Joash Amupitan as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking at the Council of State meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, the President described Amupitan as a man of “impeccable record, integrity, and apolitical disposition.”
Tinubu noted that his choice was guided by the need to strengthen public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral process, adding that Amupitan’s reputation for fairness and professionalism made him the right fit for the role.
