Former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh has revealed a shocking incident from 2002, alleging that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) withheld funds meant for players after the country qualified for the FIFA World Cup.

According to Oliseh:

“FIFA gave Nigeria $1 million for qualifying for the World Cup, and we all agreed with the NFF to share it 50-50 — $500,000 for the players. The next thing the NFF did was to disband the team and keep the money within themselves.”

This revelation has sparked outrage among football fans, who see it as another example of corruption and mismanagement within Nigerian and extended to sports administration.
