A two-term presidential candidate and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has publicly claimed that former President Muhammadu Buhari died from leukemia, a type of blood cancer, Peak Newspaper Nigeria reports.

Sowore made the revelation in a post on his verified Facebook page, following the announcement of Buhari’s death on Sunday, July 13, 2025, two years after leaving office.

Sowore Quote……
“Buhari died of (BLOOD CANCER) Leukemia,”

Sowore wrote, without citing specific medical sources or providing further details.

While the official cause of death was not disclosed by Buhari’s family or aides, his former spokesperson Garba Shehu confirmed that the late president passed away in a London clinic, where he had reportedly been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.

The comment from Sowore has stirred fresh conversation around Buhari’s long-standing health issues, which were often the subject of speculation during his time in office. Throughout his presidency, Buhari made multiple medical trips abroad, especially to the United Kingdom, sparking concerns about transparency over his condition.

As Nigerians continue to react to the former president’s passing, Sowore’s statement adds a new layer to the public narrative surrounding Buhari’s health and final days. However, there has been no official confirmation or response from Buhari’s family or medical team regarding the leukemia claim.
