Nigeria’s Minister of Defence has said the welfare of military personnel has improved significantly, revealing that the monthly salary of soldiers has been increased from ₦49,000 to ₦100,000, Peak Newspaper reports.

According to the minister, the salary increase is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve the welfare, morale, and operational effectiveness of members of the Armed Forces. He added that soldiers are now better fed and receiving improved support as the government continues to strengthen the country’s security architecture.

The minister said the welfare initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to addressing the needs of military personnel who are engaged in the fight against insecurity across the country.
