Supporters of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who had gathered at the Government House to await his return, have begun to disperse.
Earlier reports indicated that thousands of supporters converged at the Government House to welcome the governor and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, after their six-month suspension was lifted.
By 6:00 am, former local government chairmen and other prominent political figures loyal to Fubara had already gathered.
However, they were disappointed because the governor’s whereabouts are still unknown.
It has been reported that Governor Fubara and his deputy were absent from office for six months following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers due to a political crisis.
However, the emergency rule was lifted on Wednesday when Tinubu requested that the governor, his deputy, and members of the state House of Assembly resume their duties.
The Assembly members held their initial plenary session on Thursday, just 24 hours after the suspension of the emergency rule.
