In a harrowing tale that has shaken the nation to its core, Dr. Kunle Adeniji, a respected national director of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been found dead despite his family reportedly meeting the demands of his abductors.
The tragedy unfolded in the Chikakore area of Kubwa, Abuja, where Dr. Adeniji was visiting his brother when armed kidnappers stormed the residence.
The assailants abducted Dr. Adeniji, his brother, his brother’s wife Esther, and other family members. Esther was shot during the violent encounter and later found abandoned in a community in Niger State, where she is currently recovering from her injuries.
The kidnappers demanded a staggering ransom of N350 million, a price the family allegedly scrambled to meet in the desperate hope of securing the safe return of their loved ones.
While the exact amount paid remains undisclosed, sources confirm that the ransom was delivered. But hope turned to heartbreak when Dr. Adeniji’s lifeless body was discovered shortly after the ransom exchange.
The betrayal has left family, friends, and a shocked public grappling with the cruel reality that even ransom payments are no longer guarantees of safety.
While his brother reportedly survived the ordeal, and his son was among those freed, the loss of Dr. Adeniji has reignited national outrage over rising insecurity and the alarming boldness of kidnappers in Nigeria’s capital.
Authorities have promised a full investigation, but for now, a family mourns, a nation weeps, and another bright light is extinguished by the deepening shadow of lawlessness.
