The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appealed to retired police officers planning a nationwide protest to reconsider their approach, describing the move as “ill-timed and diversionary.”

The Commission assures that the concerns over pension disparities are already receiving attention from relevant government agencies.

Police Service Commission’s Head of Public Relations Department, Ikechukwu Ani, emphasized that the Commission remains firmly committed to improved welfare for both serving and retired officers.

“The Commission will never deviate from its determined efforts to ensure better welfare for all officers,” Ani said, urging retirees to return to the path of dialogue rather than confrontation.

Police Service Commission Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd), has consistently advocated for a streamlined and fair police pension scheme.

The Commission believes that meaningful reforms are underway and advises that peaceful engagement remains the most productive route to achieving lasting change.
