Ten members of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Ughelli South Chapter, narrowly escaped Death on Sunday, October 5, while returning from the Teachers’ Day celebration in Asaba.
Peak Newspaper reports that the accident occurred at Akiowhe Community when their driver, speeding in heavy rain, attempted to overtake a truck and rammed into it from behind.
Eyewitnesses said ten teachers sustained injuries, with four — including the driver who broke his thigh — in critical condition.
Community members and passersby rescued the victims and rushed them to the hospital.
Two of the survivors expressed gratitude to God for sparing their lives.
