The party’s national chairman, Tanimu Turaki, made the announcement in Abuja, saying all qualified southern aspirants are free to contest, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, Peak Newspaper reports.
Turaki said the process will be transparent and in line with the PDP’s zoning policy, which rotates power between the North and South.
The decision is part of the party’s strategy to regain power from the APC in 2027. No date has been fixed for the party’s presidential primaries.
