Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has expressed deep shock and sadness over the tragic deaths of the son and grandson of the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Patrick Abba Moro.
In a statement issued on Monday, October 20, by his media adviser, Terver Akase, Ortom described the incident as a “heartbreaking double tragedy that words can hardly express.”
According to him, the pain of losing two family members in such quick succession is “beyond comprehension.”
He particularly lamented the death of Victor Moro, the senator’s son, whom he described as “a young man full of promise.” Victor had recently completed his studies in Turkey and returned to Nigeria for his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) before his life was cut short in a fatal motor accident.
Ortom said the tragic event had thrown not only the Moro family into mourning but also brought great sorrow to their friends, associates, and all who knew Senator Moro as a dedicated public servant.
“This is indeed a moment of deep pain and sorrow for my brother and friend, Senator Abba Moro. No words are enough to console a father in this kind of situation. My heart goes out to him and the entire family,” Ortom said.
“I pray that God, in His infinite mercy, will comfort them and grant the souls of the departed eternal rest.”
The former governor also prayed for divine strength for Senator Moro and his family, asking God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
