In fulfilment of his electioneering campaign promise and subsequent emergence as the councillor representing Odigbo Ward 08 in Odigbo Local Government Council, Hon Dare Oladeyekun has distributed writing materials to the pupils from his constituency, Peak Newspaper reports
Honourable Dare, who was elected early this year, donated 100 student lockers, 350 exercise books, 200 pens, pencils, erasers, and sharpeners to pupils within the ward.
Speaking at the distribution event held at Mega School Odigbo in Odigbo LG, Hon Dare emphasised the importance of education as a cornerstone of development.
“I am not going to play politics of tribalism, discrimination or partiality, everybody rewill be carried along because of the love I have for my constituency and for their overwhelmingly support for the party during local government election,I will not derail in my campaign promise. And they will not regret bringing me out to represent them, within my capacity, I give a student a scholarship.
The second week of resumption, Hon. Dare said his decision to embark on such philanthropist gesture is bound out from his desire to ensure that all children in his constituency have access to quality education, because as it is usually said, ‘education is the key to success’.
The councillor, who lauded Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the Odigbo Local Government Chairman, Honourable Taiwo Adegoroye, said his intervention was driven by personal conviction rather than political gains.
“One may not have the power to help people if he has no source of livelihood before joining politics. That is why I advise party leaders at the state and national level to always choose candidates with a second address, so they won’t rely solely on government salary before assisting their people,” he added.
In a brief remark, HM of mega School odigbo described the gesture as amazing and encouraging. “We want to say a big thank you to Hon. Dare Oladeyekun because it is not easy for the pupils. They have been expecting it. Even last Monday, they were asking us, auntie are they not coming to give note books, pencil and pen. At last Hon. Dare is here to deliver on his promise”.
“I want to say, on behalf of the pupils, thank Hon, Dare for this great thing he has done for us. We really appreciate the gesture. We prayed God Almighty to guide and provide for him so as to fulfill all his electioneering campaign promise “
The Chairman of Odigbo Local Government, Honourable Taiwo Adegoroye, represented by Mr Kehinde Akinriboya the Secretary to the Local Government, who attended the event, commended Hon Dare for what he described as “a true dividend of democracy.”
“This is a special day for us because one of our councillors has remembered his people.
He is not just sitting in the office but is giving back by providing benches and books for children. This is what leadership should be about,” Akinriboya said.
Similarly, the Odigbo Ward Chairman, Mr Agboola Julius hailed the councillor for fulfilling his campaign promises within a short time.
“Our councillor was sworn in less than a year ago, This has never happened before in our ward. People are excited because he has shown that he values those who supported him,” Julius said.
Dare assured residents that more interventions would come, urging them to continue supporting his administration.
