Two weeks after resumption of primary and secondary schools in the state, a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Honourable Fasonu Oluwarotimi Babatunde, has gifted some education materials to the over 1,000 pupils of the state.
Hon Fasonu who represents Odigbo Constituency 2 in the state Assembly, distributed the materials, worth millions of naira, at the free summer lesson he organised for the pupils in his constituency, Peak Newspaper reports.

The lawmaker said, – Education materials will be continued tomorrow across its constituency, Araromi-Obu, Oniparaga, Ayesan.
Distributing the materials to the beneficiaries, the lawmaker said the motive was to encourage young ones in primary and secondary schools in the state to take education as an important tool for their development and the development of the nation.
He said, ” I just came around to encourage and support the initiative that I started a month ago to develop the students educational background. Students would also benefit from our scholarship programmes.
“Thousands of students across my constituency are benefited from the summer lesson programme. Learning aids were also given to the students. This is just a motivator for the students, they must take their studies serious.”
“I believe education is the most important tool you can receive, that can bring you most success in society today. Education lessens the challenges you would face in life. The more knowledge you gain the more opportunities will open up to allow individuals to achieve better possibilities in career and personal growth.
“I also believe education is important because it helps us develop a unique perspective of looking at life. Education has played a major role for all individuals in the society. It has allowed the community to succeed both socially and economically by enabling it to develop common culture and values. ”
“I am doing this personally because government cannot do it all, it needs the concerted efforts of people like us as well as other philanthropists.
“Nigeria of our dream is achievable if we can contribute our quota to her development,” he added
Also speaking, Chief Charles Meroyi,, the Education Secretary, Odigbo Local Government, lauded the lawmaker for his kind gesture to the pupils in the council.
Chief Charles noted that the gesture would go a long way in facilitating learning among the pupils in their classes.
He noted that most of the parents were poor and believed that government had to provide everything that their children needed in the school.
Mrs Akinpelumi headmistress, Local authority pry school, Araromi rubber Estate, urged other well-meaning Nigerians to assist pupils in public schools with educational materials.
“I feel excited about this gesture because most of these parents cannot afford a single exercise book for their wards.
“By this gesture, the pupils will be able to write and be on the same learning page with their colleagues.”
She commended also the lawmaker for donating learning materials to the beneficiaries.
The Head Teacher, Gbegude, L.A pry school, kajola, commended the lawmaker for disturbing the writing materials to the pupils personally.
He said that the teachers and the pupils were overwhelmed at the kind gesture by the lawmaker.
