The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Rauf Aregbesola has historically acknowledged Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s role in his political rise, though their relationship has since shifted into sharp political opposition, Peak Newspaper reports.
In a trending video circulating online platforms, Aregbesola has previously stated, “Aside God, Tinubu solely made me a good public administrator that I am today”, noting that working under Tinubu in Lagos (as Commissioner for Works) and receiving his backing for the Osun State governorship shaped his career.
Aregbesola has sharply criticized Tinubu and his “Emilokan” ideology, accusing him of overreach.
Peak Newspaper recalled that Aregbesola has aligned with opposition figures (such as hosting Atiku Abubakar in Osogbo) as part of efforts challenging Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
Critics and supporters frequently surface his past praise to highlight the evolution of their alliance.
