The Executive Chairman of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo state on Thursday, called on Odigbo Local Government Residents to be safety conscious to avoid fire incidents.
Speaking with Peak Newspaper Nigeria, today, the Director of Fire Service in Ondo state, Engineer Folohunso Samuel noted that himself and his team, today, met with the Chairman of Odigbo Local Government, Hon. Taiwo Adegoroye, to discuss some major challenges facing Fire Fighters in the Ore area of Ondo state.
According to him, he explained to the Chairman of Odigbo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Adegoroye, that the equipment available for Fire Fighters at the Ore Fire station, to combat fire accidents are not efficient and effective, thereby downplaying the effort of Firefighters in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo state.
He further noted that the Ore Fire station is in a deplorable condition— citing dilapidated building, leaking roof and dented offices.
Engineer Folohunso appealed with the Odigbo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Adegoroye and the Governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa to improve the standard of Fire-fighting equipment across Ondo state, especially the Fire station in Ore, in order to boost the efficiency of Firefighters’ responses to fire accidents.
However, he noted that Hon. Taiwo Adegoroye has pledged to swiftly intervene, provide needed equipment and renovate the Ore Fire station.
“The Honorable Chairman of Odigbo Local Government, Taiwo Adegoroye has listened to us and has swiftly responded to the situation— he has instructed the Director of Works to swing into action and we are hopeful,” he said.
In his remarks the Executive Chairman of Odigbo Local Government, Honourable Taiwo Adegoroye He called on the private sector to collaborate with the government to protect lives.
The Chairman expressed confidence in the ability of the “courageous firefighters,” adding, “We are confident in your ability to protect and serve our people even more effectively.” He said
