The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State has elected Alhaji Mutiu Owoseni as Chairman alongside other members of the Local Government Area Executive Committee, Peak Newspaper reports.
Mutiu and the new executive members emerged on Saturday during the party’s LGA Congress held at Government Field in Ore.
Addressing party faithful at the congress, the Ondo state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon Amidu Takuro called for unity among members, stressing that the APC in the area remains one family irrespective of differing interests.
He noted that democracy may not always satisfy everyone at all times but urged party members to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and collective progress.
According to him, the process had been concluded through a consensus arrangement and submitted to the appropriate authorities.
He emphasized that the congress was not meant for lengthy speeches but to formally ratify the consensus decisions reached by party stakeholders.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Union Matters and Special Duties Comrade Hon Bola Taiwo, described the congress as peaceful and hitch-free.
Bola, explained that offices were zoned to the various wards and filled through consensus, from the position of chairman down to ex-officio members.
“Each ward’s has delegates representing them, and they all affirmed the candidates selected by consensus. The congress was free and fair,” he stated.
Comrade Bola also reaffirmed the party’s commitment in Odigbo Local Government to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Earlier in his welcome address, the outgoing Chairman of the party in Odigbo Local Government, Mr Fatai Olawale, expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for the successful conduct of the ward congresses.
He expressed optimism that the LGA Congress would be equally peaceful, noting that all 11 wards had voluntarily and consensually chosen their representatives, thereby eliminating any likelihood of crisis.
Peak Newspaper understood that the congress was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as representatives of civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
With the emergence of the new executive led by Alhaji Mutiu Owoseni, party leaders expressed confidence that the APC in Odigbo would remain united and better positioned for future electoral engagements.
