The Lagos State Government has announced plans to begin urgent repair works on Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, one of the city’s busiest corridors, starting today through Sunday, September 21.
According to the state, the rehabilitation will cover the stretch from the Bonny Camp junction, with work scheduled to run nightly from 9pm until 6am to minimise disruption to daytime traffic.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, urged motorists plying the route to exercise patience and obey traffic officers during the period.
He assured that the night-only schedule was deliberately chosen to reduce congestion on the crucial Victoria Island–Lekki axis during peak hours.
Authorities advised commuters to plan their journeys ahead and consider alternative routes where possible, as the repairs may still cause temporary delays despite being carried out overnight.
Motorists are advised to explore nearby routes such as Ahmadu Bello Way, Adeola Odeku Street, and Falomo Bridge as diversions to ease traffic flow during the repair period.
