The Member representing Ilorin East Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Arinola Fatimoh Lawal, on Tuesday disbursed a total sum of N25 million to support business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs across her constituency.
The empowerment programme, held at Alabi Alasa, Idi-Ape, Ilorin, attracted party leaders, community stakeholders, and hundreds of beneficiaries drawn from various wards within the constituency.
The cash grants ranged between N50,000, N100,000, N200,000, N500,000 and N1,000,000, aimed at enabling small and medium-scale business owners to expand their operations, while providing start-up capital for others.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Lawal said the initiative was inspired by the “Owo Ishowo” economic support model introduced by the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, commending his leadership and commitment to grassroots development.
According to her, the intervention is part of broader efforts to stimulate local economic growth and improve household incomes within Ilorin East.
“Since my assumption of office as the representative of Ilorin East Constituency, we have implemented several empowerment programmes, including the distribution of working tools, vocational trainings, scholarships for indigent students, and the payment of WAEC fees for over 500 students,” she said.
Hon. Lawal urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to ensure sustainable growth of their businesses, noting that prudent management of the grants would translate into improved livelihoods and enhanced local economic productivity.
In separate remarks, several beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the lawmaker, pledging to utilize the funds effectively to grow their enterprises.
