Top political figures, including ADC National Chairman Senator David Mark, former Sokoto State Governor Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and ex-APC National Chairman Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, have arrived in Kano State ahead of the anticipated defection of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peak Newspaper reports
The move comes amid growing reports that Kwankwaso, a former Kano State governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, is set to formally declare for the ADC alongside thousands of his loyal supporters.
Sources reveal that the ADC leadership has been in talks with Kwankwaso for months, as part of a broader strategy to build a strong opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Political insiders say the development could significantly reshape Nigeria’s political landscape, especially in the North, where Kwankwaso commands massive grassroots support.
There are also indications that this alliance may be part of a wider coalition involving other key opposition figures, as efforts intensify to challenge the ruling party in the next election cycle.
Peak Newspaper understood that Kwankwaso’s expected entry into the ADC is already generating reactions across the country, with analysts describing it as a potential “game-changer” in Nigeria’s evolving political permutations.
