The Plateau State Government has concluded plans to renamed the popular Jos Terminus Market.
This was contained in a statement signed by Magna Yusuf Wamyil, the General Manager, Jos Main Market Authority made available to Peak Newspaper Nigeria
The statement reads that the Plateau State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, is taking bold steps to restore and redefine the Jos Main Market as global centre of commerce.
Once celebrated as the largest indoor market, in West African region, the Jos Main Market is set to rise again stronger, modern and positioned to drive economic growth across the state.
In keeping with its commitment to inclusive governance, the Plateau State Government believes that the Market belongs to the people. Therefore, the Jos Main Market is inviting the public to participate in naming the the iconic edifice that will leave a lasting imprint on the state’s commercial future.
Wamyil in statement also added that so far, four potential names already been suggested.
–Jos Ultra Modern Market (JUMa)
–Plateau Unity Market
–Plateau Trade Centre, and
–Plateau Trade City.
However, the doors remain open for more creative and impactful suggestions.
The new Market which will be built at Maraban Jama:a in Jos South Local Government Area, needs a name that is catchy, relevant, and timeless.
A name that reflects Plateau’s trade heritage and journey to economic freedom and prosperity.
Consequently, the Jos Market Authority urges all citizens, traders, and shareholders to participate in this historic naming.
