Pensioners pressure group under the leadership of it’s chairman,Alhaji Babangida Garba Gwandu, has commended the governor of Kebbi state,Dr Nasir Idris for what he described as regular payments of gratuities and pensions to retirees in Kebbi state.
Speaking in Birnin Kebbi in an interview with Peak Newspaper correspondent, he said pensioners in Kebbi state have no cause to complain in terms of gratuities and pensions payments in the state because the state government is up to date in that regard.
He, however, appealed to the governor to upward review pensioners pensions as approved by the federal government of thirty thousand naira.
He lamented that even the thirty thousand when added cannot meet feeding and other demands of pensioners who finds hard to subsist amid Nigeria’s harsh economic climate.
He noted that Idris is popular with generosity pensioners in the state expects him to use such exceptional character trait to put smiles on the faces of Kebbi pensioners ” the hope of nearly ten thousand weak and tired pensioners in Kebbi state dangles on the head of Kebbi government ” he said.
While the group will not engage the government in any confrontation it will continue to pray to God for the success of their demands which they believe the governor give it a deserving attention.
