The Ijaw National Congress (INC) has strongly condemned the impeachment threat against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, describing the move as a danger to democracy and political stability, Peak Newspaper reports.
In a statement, the INC urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene to prevent a deepening crisis in the state. The group maintained that any allegations against the governor should be addressed through constitutional and legal channels, not through impeachment proceedings.
According to the INC, the move reflects a pattern of political vendetta, warning that such actions could undermine governance and peace in Rivers State.
The group called on all stakeholders to respect democratic norms and allow due process to prevail.
