Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved a massive salary increase for security guards at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), raising their monthly pay from ₦18,800 to ₦80,000.
Peak Newspaper reports that the decision came after one of the guards boldly voiced their struggles during a public meeting with the governor. Moved by the guard’s courage and the poor working conditions highlighted, Makinde immediately directed that all security personnel at the institution receive the new wage.
The governor’s action has sparked widespread praise, with many Nigerians commending him for his swift response and commitment to workers’ welfare.
Observers say the move not only uplifts the workers but also sends a powerful message about the impact of speaking up for change
