A policy change in the United States has slowed down a $48 million plan to upgrade waterworks across Lagos State, according to a state commissioner, Peak Newspaper reports
The project, previously approved by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), was aimed at rehabilitating several mini and micro waterworks to improve access to clean water.
Despite the setback, the commissioner said Lagos has strengthened its position by adopting a WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) policy, signaling its readiness to attract global investment into the water sector.
He added that the state remains committed to improving water supply and is optimistic that funding and partnerships will be secured to move the project forward.
