The Federal Government is preparing to bring charges against Idris Omeiza, Al-Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulhaleem Idris, and Momoh Abubakar. They are accused of being involved in the bombing of Saint Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State on June 5th, 2022.
The suspects will be brought before Justice Obiorah Egwatu at the Federal High Court in Abuja for arraignment.
The federal government charged the five defendants with nine counts related to terrorism.
The suspects are being arraigned three years after General Lucky Irabor, who was the Chief of Defence Staff at the time, announced that those responsible for the attack had been apprehended.
The National Security Council attributed the attack to malicious activities of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
More than 40 worshippers were killed and many others injured when attackers stormed the church during a Sunday service, opening fire on Catholics attending mass.
