The Federal Government has officially named the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna, Niger State, as an alternative to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
According to Reports, this announcement was made by the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, during the launch of Overland Airways’ first flight from the Minna airport on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
Keyamo noted that the airport’s design, runway capacity, and overall standard are on par with top international airports. He explained that the runway can handle large aircraft such as Boeing 747s and 777s, and expressed surprise that the facility had been underused for years.
He declared, “This is an international runway. From today, by the powers given to me, I declare the Minna airport as the official alternative to Abuja airport. NCA and FAAN should take note.
