The Federal Government has placed a seven-year pause on creating new federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
This decision was made to address the growing number of under-utilised institutions, limited resources, and declining academic quality.
It was approved at Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu, after a presentation by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa.
