The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has shared a record ₦2.225 trillion among the three tiers of government and statutory beneficiaries for August 2025.
This is the highest monthly disbursement in Nigeria’s history.
The announcement was contained in a communiqué issued after FAAC’s meeting in Abuja, which attributed the surge in revenue to increased collections from oil and gas royalties, value-added tax (VAT) and common external tariff (CET) charges.
According to the breakdown, the total revenue for August stood at ₦3.635 trillion.
From this amount, ₦124.839 billion was deducted as collection costs, while ₦1.286 trillion was set aside for transfers, interventions, refunds and savings, leaving ₦2.225 trillion available for distribution.
Out of the ₦1.478 trillion in statutory revenue, the Federal Government received ₦684.462 billion, states got ₦347.168 billion, and local government councils were allocated ₦267.652 billion.
From VAT collections of ₦672.903 billion, the Federal Government received ₦100.935 billion, while states and local governments got ₦336.452 billion and ₦235.516 billion, respectively.
The Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL) contributed ₦32.338 billion, with the Federal Government receiving ₦4.851 billion, states ₦16.169 billion and local governments ₦11.318 billion.
Meanwhile, exchange rate gains of ₦41.284 billion were shared as follows: Federal Government ₦19.799 billion, states ₦10.042 billion and local governments ₦7.742 billion.
An additional ₦3.701 billion, representing 13 percent of mineral revenue, was paid to oil-producing states as derivation.
FAAC noted that the landmark allocation reflects the impact of improved revenue mobilization efforts and is expected to boost fiscal capacity across all levels of government.
