Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), blaming the party’s failure to provide credible leadership and tackle Nigeria’s growing political challenges.
In a resignation letter dated July 4, 2025, and shared via his X account on Thursday, Melaye announced his immediate withdrawal from the party and all its activities, citing the PDP’s “lack of potency and capacity” to rescue Nigeria from its current woes.
“Having carefully reflected on the state of the party, I can no longer in good conscience participate in its activities or support its agenda,” Melaye wrote.
The former PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 Kogi election thanked the party for the opportunity to serve but said it was time to move on.
