Confusion and shock ripple through Ogun State politics as Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele’s name is missing from the official list of aspirants cleared for the APC Ogun West Senatorial primaries, Peak Newspaper reports
The signed list circulating yesterday only features Senator Tolu Odebiyi, Senator Gbolahan Dada, Hon. Waliu Taiwo, and Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele — but not the Deputy Governor, who had openly prepared for the race with consultations across the district.
Salako-Oyedele, the only prominent female aspirant from Ogun West, had purchased her nomination forms and rallied support from women groups, stakeholders, and political associates. Her exclusion has left supporters stunned, with many calling it a blow to women’s political participation.
Advocacy voices like Desola Jolaogun of She Leads described the omission as “shocking and disappointing,” stressing that she had shown loyalty, capacity, and grassroots commitment.
Party members are now demanding urgent clarification, while analysts warn that unchecked tensions could fracture APC alliances ahead of the 2027 elections.
