A political coalition has declared former President Goodluck Jonathan as the most qualified and experienced leader capable of addressing Nigeria’s current challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections, Peak Newspaper reports

The group made the assertion during a press conference in Abuja, where it said Jonathan possesses the leadership experience and track record needed to restore stability and economic confidence in the country.

Speaking on behalf of the coalition, its president, Tom Ohikere, said Nigeria is currently facing significant economic and security challenges, including inflation, unemployment and insecurity, which require tested and experienced leadership.

He described Jonathan as a leader with extensive governance experience, having served in multiple capacities including deputy governor, governor, vice president and president, which places him in a strong position to lead the country again.

The coalition further stated that Jonathan’s past administration demonstrated commitment to democratic values, institutional stability and economic reforms, adding that his peaceful transfer of power in 2015 remains a landmark moment in Nigeria’s democratic history.

According to the group, it has begun nationwide consultations and mobilisation efforts to build support for Jonathan ahead of the 2027 elections, with the aim of promoting inclusive governance and restoring public trust in leadership.

The development comes amid growing political alignments and calls by various groups urging the former president to return to active politics as preparations for the next election cycle intensify.
