Former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, on Tuesday evening arrived at the national secretariat of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Abuja for the party’s presidential screening exercise ahead of the 2027 general election, Peak Newspaper reports.
Obi’s arrival at the party headquarters drew attention from supporters and party members as political activities continue to intensify ahead of the next presidential race.
The screening exercise is part of the NDC’s preparations to finalise its candidate selection process for the 2027 election.
Obi, who emerged as one of the leading opposition figures after the 2023 presidential election, has continued to attract strong political interest amid ongoing coalition discussions and realignments within Nigeria’s opposition landscape.
The development comes shortly after reports emerged that he had become the sole presidential aspirant within the party.
