The Federal High Court in Abuja has discharged and acquitted suspended DCP Abba Kyari and his two brothers in the 23-count case filed by the NDLEA over alleged non-declaration of assets, Peak Newspaper reports.
Justice James Omotosho ruled that the prosecution failed to provide sufficient evidence, describing the case as “watery.” The court said there was no proof linking Kyari to the disputed properties in Abuja, Maiduguri, or Borno State.
The judge also criticized the inclusion of Kyari’s brothers in the conspiracy charge, saying it was unsubstantiated and done in bad faith.
However, the ruling applies only to the asset declaration allegations, while other cases against Kyari, including drug-related charges, are still ongoing.
