The Labour Party in Benue State has called on members and supporters to rally behind its newly affirmed National Chairman, Esther Nenadi Usman, following recent court judgments that recognized her leadership, Peak Newspaper reports
According to the party, rulings by the Supreme Court of Nigeria and the Federal High Court in Abuja affirmed Senator Nenadi as the authentic National Chairman of the party, prompting the Benue chapter to mobilize members in support of her administration.
In a press statement made available to Peak Newspaper by the party’s Deputy Publicity Secretary and Director of Media/Publicity in Benue State, Comrade ALUH Moses Odeh described Senator Nenadi as “Nigeria’s first female National Chairman of a political party,” urging party faithful to remain united and committed to the party’s growth.
The statement further encouraged both old and new members to register online and obtain their membership cards as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s structure ahead of future elections.
The Benue Labour Party also noted that under Senator Nenadi’s leadership, alongside the involvement of Hon. Philip Agbese, the party has gained momentum in the state’s political landscape. According to the statement, the party is positioning itself as a formidable opposition force in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
As part of its restructuring process, the party announced the appointment of Hon. Ochonu Williams as the new State Chairman for Benue, along with an interim executive committee tasked with revitalizing political activities across the state.
The statement further claimed that recent political developments have weakened the ruling All Progressives Congress in Benue State, with some prominent members reportedly distancing themselves from the party and exploring new political alignments.
Reaffirming its readiness for the future, the Labour Party said it is determined to correct the challenges encountered during the 2023 elections and promised to deliver a stronger performance at the polls in 2027.
