Adeniyi Kayode, 47, has been identified as the driver involved in the road accident that injured heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua and claimed the lives of two individuals, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, Peak Newspaper reports.
Speaking after the incident, Kayode denied reckless driving, insisting the crash was caused by a mechanical failure.
“I wasn’t overspeeding or driving recklessly. My brakes failed. I kept pressing the pedal. What happened was an accident. I have been Anthony Joshua’s driver for three years,” he said.
Meanwhile, authorities say investigations are ongoing, and Kayode could face severe legal consequences, including a possible life sentence, depending on the outcome of the case and how the incident is interpreted under Nigerian law.
Officials have stressed that no final decision has been taken, as the matter remains under investigation and subject to judicial process.
