Political commentator Akin Osuntokun has criticised former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over his recent remarks targeting the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Osuntokun described El-Rufai’s continued attacks as a “dangerous obsession,” warning that personal feuds between high-profile political figures could distract from more pressing national concerns. He argued that public discourse should focus on governance and accountability rather than prolonged political battles.
He further suggested that the dispute risks diverting attention from ongoing corruption investigations and broader security challenges facing the country. According to him, institutional processes should be allowed to function without being overshadowed by personal disagreements.
The exchange is the latest in a series of public disagreements involving El-Rufai and senior government officials, reflecting wider tensions within Nigeria’s political space.
Neither El-Rufai nor Ribadu has issued a fresh response to Osuntokun’s comments as of the time of filing this report.
