Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has rallied APC leaders in the state, emphasizing the need for unity and collective effort to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Peak Newspaper Nigeria reports that the meeting, which was held in Akure, aimed to replicate the national caucus and ensure that all party members work together under the leadership of the central party structure.

Aiyedatiwa stressed that the party’s strength lies in its unity, saying, “Our strength lies in our unity and all of us as leaders of the APC in the state must come together to build on the foundation already laid.”

He urged party leaders to focus on mobilizing grassroots votes for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

The governor expressed confidence that President Tinubu would win the election, but emphasized the need for an overwhelming victory in the South-West and Ondo State.

“It is granted that the President will win the election, however, for us in the South-West and Ondo State, the victory must be overwhelming,” he said.

The meeting was attended by party leaders, both past and present, who unanimously agreed that President Tinubu needed to continue in office beyond 2027.

They floated an umbrella structure named ‘Ondo State for Tinubu 2027’ and appointed the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, and the State Secretary of the APC, Mrs. Roseline Okafor, to coordinate the state secretariat of the caucus.

Party leaders, including Member representing Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency, Derin Adesida, and APC chieftain, Sola Iji, commended Aiyedatiwa for convening the meeting and praised his proactive leadership.

Adesida noted that the gathering was enshrined in the APC Constitution to enable leaders to meet and deliberate on the party’s future.

Aiyedatiwa also disclosed that the National Economic Council had launched the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme, aimed at taking development to the grassroots.
