Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu Advocates 6-Year Single Term for Nigerian Presidents and Governors
Former Abia State Governor and current Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has called on the constitutional review committee to amend the 1999 Constitution to allow for a single-term tenure of six years for presidents and governors.
According to Kalu, a single term will promote stability, reduce political tension, and allow leaders to focus on governance instead of re-election battles. He emphasized that Nigeria’s democracy needs reforms that prioritize service delivery over political ambitions.
