The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Ondo Province’s Directorate of Teens and Children Education (DTCE) has held its inter-house sports today at Our Saviour Mega Primary School, Odigbo, Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo state.
Speaking with Peak Newspaper Nigeria the Assistant Pastor-in-Charge of province CSR, Pastor Fesobi highlighted that the inter-house sport, themed “Pursuing Glory” is a special Directorate of Teens and Children Education (DTCE) initiative aimed at uniting Christians and discovering young talents.
Citing the growing economic and sociocultural value of sport, he emphasized the need for the Christian communities to ignite, encourage and promote sports and inspire teens and children to participate in it.
He thanked the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A Adeboye for his guidance, leadership and spiritual support, which made the inter-house sports a success.
Pastor Fesobi further noted that the “Pursuing Glory” inter-house sports focuses on using sports as a bridge to the heart of teens, children and adults and to propagate the gospel of Christ.
During his address at the “Pursuing Glory” inter-house sports event, the Chairman of Ifesowapo Local Council Development Area, Honourable Adeolu Akinseyoju commended the leadership of the church for conceiving and implementing the inter-house sports initiative.He said
“Glory be to God for this memorable moment of celebrating our teens and children and exposing them to athletic activities to solidify their foundation.
I commend the leadership of the church for visualizing and implementing this initiative. This inter-house sport event is a good development that is worthy to be emulated.
“One of the teenage participants in the “Pursuing Glory” inter-house sports, Adekunle Ezekiel expressed delight and enthusiasm for participating in the “Pursuing Glory” inter-house sports. He said
“It was a proud moment for my parents when I emerged victorious in my category of the sport. I’d like to do this more,” he said.
Some of the sports and games played at the “Pursuing Glory” inter-house sports include 1,500m for Senior boys and girls, 400m for senior boys and girls, 200m, 100m, 75m for children between 6-8 years old, 50m for toddlers, hurdles race, 3 legged race, egg race, sack race, fill in the bottle and other sports.
Some of the dignitaries who graced the “Pursuing Glory” inter-house sports event include the Chairman, Ifesowapo LCDA Chairman, Honourable Adeolu Akinseyoju; Pastor-in-Charge of Ondo province, Pastor S.O Oloyede; Councillor of Odigbo Ward 8, Honourable Oladeyekun; Pastor Oluwaniyi, to mention few.
