Osun PDP backs Governor Adeleke amid defection rumours

The leadership caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has declared unwavering support for Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, exoressing readiness to stand by him in any political decision he makes, including potential defection to another party.

In a statement released by Mallam Olawale Rashheed, the spokesperson to the Governor, the PDP caucus unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Governor Adeleke, endorsing his leadership and performance in office.

“Osun PDP leadership caucus today passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ademola Adeleke, unanimously supporting any decision the Governor takes on the growing rumour of defection to another political party”, the statement read.

The high-level meeting, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, featured in-depth deliberations and was attended by top stakeholders across all arms of the party and government in the state.

Those present included Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, Deputy Senate Minority Leader Senator Lere Oyewumi, several federal and state lawmakers, members of the State Executive Council, party elders, ALGON Leadership, and notable political figures such as former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Rev. Bunnmi Jenyo.

Following the Governor’s briefing and exhaustive discussions, the caucus resolved through a communique to continue supporting Governor Adeleke. “Wherever he goes”, while acknowledging that he is still consulting on the next course of action.

The meeting undermined the Governor’s influence and the party’s internal cohesion as the political climate intensifies ahead of the next election cycle.
