Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, says Labour Party’s Peter Obi stands a better chance of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election especially if he picks a strong northern running mate.
In a post on X, Bashir argued that Obi’s youth support and grassroots popularity give him an edge over former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, whom he described as less likely to win.
He wrote that Obi’s cult-like following and generational appeal make him a serious threat to both Tinubu and Atiku in the coming election.
Recall that Bashir’s father and other key opposition figures, including Obi, Atiku, Amaechi, and Aregbesola recently formed a coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to unseat the APC in 2027.
