Ali Modu Sheriff, the former governor of Borno State, has suggested that Peter Obi, who was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in 2023, might rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the 2027 elections.

Obi has recently teamed up with prominent opposition politicians to establish a coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Their objective is to defeat the current ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the 2027 elections.

Obi has expressed his intention to run in the 2027 elections with support from the coalition. Meanwhile, there are rumors that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar might also seek to secure the party’s nomination for candidacy.

Peter Obi was featured on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics program on July 6, 2025.

During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Sheriff mentioned that the information he has suggests Obi is likely to secure the PDP presidential nomination.

The former governor commented that Atiku, having previously served as Nigeria’s vice president, now aims solely for the presidency. Similarly, Peter Obi pursued his political career under the Labour Party with the goal of becoming President.

According to the information I have, it seems that Obi may soon return to the PDP and run as their presidential candidate.

This leaves Vice President Atiku and Rotimi Amaechi. Can you tell me which states they have influence over?
