Following the nomination of Senator representing Ondo South, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, as an international ambassador, Rt. Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, former Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly and a two-term member of the House of Representatives, has officially declared his intention to contest for the vacant Ondo South Senatorial seat.
Akinfolarin, widely celebrated as a politician with integrity, a philanthropist with a deep sense of humanity, and a humanitarian whose influence cuts across communities, made this known during an interview with Peak Newspaper Nigeria.
Speaking passionately about his vision, Akinfolarin reflected on the transformational strides recorded during his previous years in public service.
He explained that his leadership style—rooted in transparency, accessibility and strategic engagement—played a critical role in galvanizing unprecedented development across Ondo South.
He highlighted several empowerment programmes he initiated, explaining that these interventions were specifically designed to uplift youths, women and vulnerable residents by creating avenues for economic growth and self-reliance.
Akinfolarin further recalled how his legislative experience helped him facilitate employment opportunities for numerous young people across his constituency. He noted that education also received significant attention through his contributions to learning infrastructure, scholarships and support initiatives aimed at improving the quality of schooling available to children and youths in Ondo South.
The seasoned lawmaker added that his tenure in the National Assembly was marked by numerous infrastructural projects he attracted to various communities, stressing that his goal has always been to bridge development gaps and ensure that the people of Ondo South enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Declaring his senate ambition, Akinfolarin appealed to the people of Ondo South to give him their mandate, assuring them of dedicated, diligent and people-driven representation. He stated that his experience, proven track record, and passion for community growth make him well-positioned to provide the quality representation the district deserves.
