Lawyer kidnapped while returning from call-to-bar ceremony regains freedom on her birthday

‎The lawyer who was kidnapped while returning from her call-to-bar ceremony and her sister who accompanied her have regained freedom.

‎Recall that Peace Onyesom Udoka, a recently sworn-in lawyer, and her sister Gift Onyesom were kidnåpped along the Okene-Auchi road on Friday, September 26.

‎They had attended the call-to-bar ceremony in Abuja on September 23 and were returning to Benin when they were kidnåpped.

‎Days later, their family disclosed that the abductors are demanding N40m ransom before they would be released.

‎Giving update on the case, human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu announced today, September 30, that the sisters have regained freedom.

‎He stated that Peace regained freedom on her birthday, September 30. He added that the sisters were released to authorities at a village near Okpella.

‎He did not disclose if ransom was paid.

‎Gwamnishu wrote: “Peace Onyesom Udoka and Gift Onyesom kidnåpped while returning from Call to Bar ceremony in Abuja have just been released to us at a village near Okpella.
