The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced an indefinite nationwide strike beginning October 31, 2025, warning of severe disruptions to public hospital services across the country.
The decision follows the expiration of a 30-day ultimatum issued to the Federal Government over unmet demands concerning doctors’ welfare, improved working conditions, and the implementation of pending agreements.
NARD stated that despite repeated engagements, the government’s failure to address their grievances left them with no choice but to embark on industrial action. The association urged the public to understand the necessity of the strike, emphasizing that it seeks to strengthen Nigeria’s ailing healthcare system rather than weaken it.
