African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has arrived to Nigeria as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election, Peak Newspaper reports.
Omoyele Sowore return, signalling a renewed focus on his presidential campaign and political activities on the ground.
The activist-turned-politician secured the AAC’s presidential ticket in May 2026 after emerging as the party’s consensus candidate at its presidential primary. INEC has subsequently listed Sowore as the AAC candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
His return comes as the 2027 election campaign season gathers momentum, with the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for January 16, 2027.
Sowore has previously contested the Nigerian presidency in 2019 and 2023 under the AAC platform. His 2027 bid will mark his third consecutive presidential contest with the party.
The AAC candidate has continued to campaign around issues including accountability, corruption, unemployment, insecurity and governance, presenting his political platform as an alternative to the established political parties.
With the election drawing closer, Sowore’s return places his campaign activities back on the Nigerian political landscape as parties and candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 polls.
